offers entertainment for all. Whether you’ve never experienced a dance performance, or are devoted to the art form, this is the show to see. Eight of the nation’s most talented young tap dancers take to the stage in this rousing, joyous celebration of American youth culture.
Through a series of musical vignettes, Tap Kids tells the story of a group of high-school kids and the challenges they face as they prepare for the big school dance and, ultimately, for graduation. With an original score by Philip Stern and choreography by Lisa Hopkins, Tap Kids takes the traditional Tap dance form to new heights in an electrifying performance that is hip, contemporary, and uplifting.
Since its debut at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in 2002, the show has enjoyed success across the country and abroad. Tap Kids has appeared twice in Mexico, most recently headlining the Tamaulipas International Festival. Tap Kids was featured in a star-studded gala for the queen of Holland at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam and returned to Europe in November for a three-week tour of the Netherlands. In 2005 the company made its national television debut on the star-studded Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Assoication.
