CCPA Welcomes the Colburn Orchestra on Sat., Jan. 28, 7:00 PM

CERRITOS, CA – The Colburn Orchestra comes to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Saturday, January 28 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $35; admission for students and children ages 12 and younger is $25.

With conductor Simone Menezes and bassoon player Elena Mateo Sáez, the COLBURN ORCHESTRA puts the velvety sound of the bassoon on full display in a riveting Cerritos showcase featuring Camargo Guarneri’s boisterous Brazilian masterpiece Aperture Concertante; Bernhard Crusell’s Bassoon Concertino in B-Flat Major; and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s struggle against fate in the Symphony No. 5 in e minor, Op. 65.

In its 19th season, the Colburn Orchestra performs throughout Southern California and Europe, earning acclaim for its passion, exuberance, and virtuosity. The ensemble consists of students from the Colburn School, often partnering with celebrated soloists and guest conductors. The orchestra is generously underwritten by Eva and Marc Stern.

The San Francisco Classical Voice applauded the ensemble, calling it “L.A’s other top orchestra,” raving: “The symphonic season at the Colburn School is on another level compared to most student ensembles.”
